"All the World Wondered after the Beast" (Rev.13:3). Satan has manipulated the people of the world into mistranslating and distorting the Bible (especially in English) to create a false gospel, a false image of the Saviour, and a false name: this constitutes the mark of the Beast (Rev. 13:18). Satan has proclaimed, "I will be like the Most High." He is the counterfeit God, and the "idol shepherd" (Zech. 11:17). He deceives the world with his miracles (Rev. 16:14). The above picture is symbolic. The Beast can appear as the Prince of Darkness, to terrorize, or as an Angel of Light to deceive and entice. The image (Greek: icon) of the Beast is being used to entice modern Christians to idolatry.
